- you may not notice a gradual loss of flexibility until, say, the first day in spring that you start to work in your garden and you realise it’s a bit harder than it used to be and maybe even painful. Although some of this is due to age-related changes, a sedentary lifestyle can accelerate the process. Lets take a look how ageing affects different parts of our body and how we can influence this with our yoga practice:

This is a fun workshop where we’re going to explore jumping thru and jumping back. When will I float? The seemingly magic of bandhas that allows us to fly is a gradual process that is developed over time with steady practice. But, if we can’t understand the basic physics of activating our core, we can remain stuck to the earth indefinitely. Hopefully, this workshop will help break down individual elements that allow us to experience weightlessness in all elements in our practice.
After a smoothie break there will be an opportunity to work on whatever is currently up for you in your practice. How to get in or out of a particular asana? How to deepen your experience in a posture that has been challenging you? Ask for special modifications for any part of the practice that frustrates you. When you book suggest an individual issue which you would like to work on. As the name implies – Asana Playground …. very fun stuff.
Workshop is suitable for all levels and all styles of practitioners

I’m sure we’re all familiar with the advice to bend our knees when stooping down to pick up a heavy box. We do this to help distribute the weight from the lower back into the legs. During this workshop we’re going to look at a few standing postures and play with entering and exiting a number of standing poses with the legs straight and then with the knees bent.
Feeling the movement of a spine; connecting hip and spine movements; explore the fluidity of the spine through Sun Salutations and feel your twist.
Sitting – many problems arise from the average person’s lifestyle. Being seated for many hours often leads to tight hip flexors; it can also cause compression of the front of the vertebrae, which removes the lumbar curve, and can eventually contribute to a herniated disc. By opening the front of the body can start to alleviate some of these problems.
Practicing yoga over the years has taught me to work with my body (warts and all!!) as well as a previous serious skiing injury. Knowing how different parts of my body works has given my body strength and flexibility. It’s an on going journey though…..
Workshop is suitable for all levels and all styles of practitioners

Intensive Training week with John Scott and supporting teachers in Kathmandu. I was very lucky to get a place with John Scott in Nepal and his team of guest teachers – Helen McCabe, Andy Gill and Ellen Johannesen – for an extraordinary retreat into the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga practice. September 2017.
Hosted in a spectacular and welcoming Buddhist monastery nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, the week brings together practices, teachings, people and places to create an incomparably inspiring opportunity to deepen your relationship to the practice and yourself.
The full teaching team are offering the retreat for no fee for their teaching, donating all proceeds to the work of the monastery to provide a quality education to little boys from some of the poorest parts of Nepal and to preserve and share the Dharma with all. A wonderful experience never to be forgotten
