I’m sure we’re all familiar with the advice to bend our knees when stooping down to pick up a heavy box. We do this to help distribute the weight from the lower back into the legs. During this workshop we’re going to look at a few standing postures and play with entering and exiting a number of standing poses with the legs straight and then with the knees bent.

Feeling the movement of a spine; connecting hip and spine movements; explore the fluidity of the spine through Sun Salutations and feel your twist.

Sitting – many problems arise from the average person’s lifestyle. Being seated for many hours often leads to tight hip flexors; it can also cause compression of the front of the vertebrae, which removes the lumbar curve, and can eventually contribute to a herniated disc.  By opening the front of the body can start to alleviate some of these problems.

Practicing yoga over the years has taught me to work with my body (warts and all!!) as well as a previous serious skiing injury. Knowing how different parts of my body works has given my body strength and flexibility. It’s an on going journey though…..

Workshop is suitable for all levels and all styles of practitioners
